To members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the grafting of tree branches in the Lord's vineyard symbolizes the scattering and gathering of Israel. LDS Mormons believe just as branches of a tree can be cut off and grafted onto other trees and flourish better there - so the Lord directs the movements of his children to strengthen and save as many as possible. The symbolism of the Lord's Vineyard can be found explained in 1 Nephi Chapter 15 of the Book of Mormon.
