The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encourages all of the Latter-day Saints to live worthy to attend the temple. LDS Mormons strive to attend the LDS temple so that they can make eternal covenants with God for themselves and for their ancestors. Latter-day Saints perform ordinances like baptism by proxy on behalf of the dead who are unable to perform the ordinances having already passed on to the spirit world, but have the opportunity to accept them if the work has been done on the earth.
