It is well known by Mormon Latter-day Saints that after God flooded the earth, he promised never to flood it again, and the rainbow was the sign he left as symbol of that promise. LDS Mormons believe that just as God baptized the earth with water when He flooded it, that when the Savior returns He will baptize the earth with fire.
