Oliver Cowdery was one of the three LDS witnesses called to see the plates and bear testimony of the Book of Mormon. He also served as scribe and was also with the prophet Joseph Smith when the ordinance of baptism and the Aaronic priesthood were restored. Oliver Cowdery like the others of the three witnesses fell away from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a time, but in his old age he returned and he always declared his testimony that the Book of Mormon was true, that he had handled it, and that it was translated by the power of God.
