In the scriptures the Latter-day Saints can read the parable of the ten virgins who waited for the bridegroom with oil in their lamps, but when it was time some of them had no oil and were locked out of the marriage. LDS Mormons know that the oil is symbolic of the spirit of God, the virgins are the lamps, and the bridegroom is the Savior.
