In the Book of Mormon we learn that Moroni was the Son of Mormon who helped compile the books that comprise the Book of Mormon. After Mormon died, Moroni took the record and buried it to keep it safe. Several hundred years later Moroni returned as an angel of God and appeared to Joseph Smith to show him the location of the Book of Mormon. Latter-day Saints know that the Book of Mormon was preserved by God to be brought forth in the latter days and that it is another Testament of Jesus Christ.
